I was
born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. From childhood, drawing and painting was natural to me. Because I couldn’t stop drawing, my notebooks
and textbooks were filled with drawings and doodles. I learned several different crafts from my mother and grandmother, such
as knitting, crochet, needlework, sewing, and of course, origami. When I was 16 years
old, I decided to be a jewelry artist.
Therefore, I studied design and drawing to get into the Art
Institute. Two years later, I changed my
mind; oil painting was what I really wanted to do, which became my major at
Tokyo Zoukei University.
I moved to the United States in 1980 after getting married. While raising two daughters, I learned other arts and crafts, such as watercolor painting, tole painting, sculpture, and picture framing. I have been working in
a Frame Store/Gallery for the past 15 years, using my creativity and my ability
to design. I love using and playing with
colors, as well as creating different things with my hands.
